This chapter provides a narrative of the entrance of Korea’s first priest, Fr. Zhou Wenmo, into Korea from China, how he ministered to his underground flock for five years, and how a major persecution broke out after King Chŏngjo died in 1800. It also provides details about how and why Hwang Sayŏng wrote his Silk Letter, how that letter was intercepted, and how Hwang was captured.
