The Epilogue discusses ʻĪʻī’s legacy; offers a few words about him and his life from the perspective of his biographer; considers the relevance of his life for today’s ʻŌiwi (Hawaiians); the importance of ʻŌiwi narrative genres for depicting life and history, and the significance of ʻŌiwi aesthetics to the same; and the theoretical and methodological implications of narratives about indigenous lives for the fields of biography, history, cultural studies, and religious studies.
